Santa Fe Swing Dance Society (SFSDS)

Our New Mexico non-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) charitable organization was established in 2024. We have been swing dancing in Santa Fe since 1997. Weekly swing lessons and social dances were hosted directly by the Santa Fe Odd Fellows for many years.

Santa Fe Balboa Club (SFBC)

Our Balboa club is a branch of the Santa Fe Swing Dance Society that offers Balboa classes, practices, social dances, and workshops in Santa Fe, NM. The club was established in 2023.

What is Balboa?
​
Balboa is a swing dance from Southern California. Balboa is typically for medium and fast tempos. Balboa is danced in close embrace (pure-Bal) with fancy footwork and in open embrace with turns and flashy moves (Bal-swing). Balboa can also be danced to slow tempos and blues music (slow-Bal).​
